colorado

so. i'm sitting at gate C41 in Denver International Airport waiting for my flight to get here. it's been a very long day. it started at 4:54am..but i snoozed my alarm, so it restarted at 5:05am..i got ready and left my room at 5.36am for the airport. hopped on my plane and headed to denver. i tried studying some geneitcs, but my eyelids were more interesting. the flight was short and arrived quickly.

at my last interview, i met a gent named Farshad, and he had an interview here at colorado today as well. i got a ride with him to the school. we got there an hour early and ate some cookies and fruit to pass the time. at 12.30 the assistant dean gave us a welcome presentation, then we all sat down in the waiting area for our interviews to start. i was one of the first up.

i had 2 very nice interviewers. a professor at the school, and a very nice student. they alternated asking me questions about my character (strengths and weaknesses), what i knew about their school, and why i wanted to pursue dentistry. that took about 20 minutes. it was quite relaxed, though not as much as UK was. then, they asked if i had any questions. i asked some questions that seemed to impress them (if you really want to know i'll tell you..), and my last question was "do you have anything you want to ask me?" i'll think of a different one next time haha. the professor asked.."so we're having a review committee, what should we tell them about you to further your application in our cycle? what would you say to them?" i was like...uuuuuhhhhhhhhh....so i answered, and they seemed satisfied.

edit: another funny thing i remembered tonight. the professor asked me (after finding out that i don't like conflict and don't like being blunt with people) "if you made a perfect set of dentures for a person, and they kept complaining and wanted new ones because they hurt, what would you do?" so that was pretty tough..but i said that i would first ask what they didn't like about them, talk about what is hurting them, etc. the professor asked "what if he still wants new ones..?" i said i'd go to my professor and ask what I should do, maybe make a new set of them (even though the originals were perfect. again the professor asked "what if he doesn't like them still?" i about had it with this patient...so i said "i would tell the patient that my dentures were perfect, and to deal with it." they almost fell out of their chairs laughing haha. it was funny. i added, "maybe he just doesn't like the fact that he's old and wearing dentures, and keeps complaining..but it's really a mental thing." and they laughed harder. i hope they don't think i'm a jerk :)

i walked back outside and waited for my tour of the school. a student working in the sim clinic came out to us and asked if anyone wanted to watch them in the sim clinic. everyone said "no" and she's like "well..okay. i just thought you might want to see what we're doing. oh well." so i jumped from my chair and asked if i could watch. she actually asked if i wanted to take the little drill thing and mess around with some of the teeth that she was working on. she didn't know if i would get in trouble, and i said no because i didn't want her getting in trouble either. but she was really really nice.

then i took a tour of the school with a few other students (it was about 60/40 female/male ratio. interesting). the facilities are second to none. truly beautiful. i was kinda of in awe actually..super high tech and the whole medical center was brand new. they had lots and lots of personal study rooms as well which was a nice touch.

so i went back to the waiting room and waited for farshad to get out of his interview. he took me back to the airport. i saw the female student that interviewed me on my way out, and thanked her and shook her hand. she took my hand firmly and looked intently at my eyes and said "see you later." *scratches chin with a pondering expression* hmmmmmm.

so it was a great school. i'm grateful for the opportunity to interview there, and possibly attend there. we'll see where God wants me to go though. i'm down with anything.

so i'm about to board. hopefully the flight will be uneventful. then i can look forward to filabertos with my lovely sister, and i can look forward to chis leben knocking out michael bisping tonight on the free UFC fight.

i have 2 midterms this next week that i'm freaking about. anatomy/physiology on monday, we're testing on blood vessels and the lymphatic system. i don't really get it..but i'll try to rely on my logical test taking skills to get me through it. then i have genetics on tuesday night. that will be death. seriously. it will be bad.
